Kundalini Activation FAQ +
What is kundalini? What is kundalini activation?
Kundalini is a name for the primal energy that is said to be located at the muladhara chakra, which sits at the base of the spine. This energy represents our creative potential and is always in us as long as we are alive. When it is flowing freely, we are able to tap into a deep well of pleasure, creativity, and divine uncompetitive power.
Kundalini Activation, often called Life Force Activation, is a healing modality that works with this energy. It involves a gentle transmission that helps clear the pathways through which kundalini flows, allowing you to tap into your fullest potential and activating the body's self-healing mechanism. It offers a unique opportunity to explore both the depths and heights of your inner world, all while being supported by a skilled facilitator.
Though words may not fully capture the profound nature of this experience, Kundalini Activation is best understood through direct participation. Its profound effects are often beyond what can be conveyed logically, as the experience touches upon something deeper within.
What can I expect in a session?
Each participant will lie in a comfortable resting position on a yoga mat with eyes closed. A carefully curated music playlist will begin and the facilitator will touch certain points on and around the participants' bodies to transmit healing energy. As a participant, there is nothing to do but lie down and allow the wisdom of the body and divine energy the opportunity to do what they will. Simply put, the less you do, the more it flows.
No substances are ingested during these sessions—participants are generally discouraged from drinking alcohol or taking recreational drugs in the days surrounding their sessions. Participants may have a wide range of experiences, such as:
- Deep relaxation and calmness
- Spiritual and personal insight
- Tingling sensations or temperature changes
- Visual experiences, such as seeing colors or sacred geometry
- Spontaneous movements, kriyas, or mudras
- Emotional release, such as crying or laughing
- Ecstatic bliss and energetic orgasm!
- Connection with benevolent spirit guides, loved ones, animals, and ascended beings
- Feelings of oneness and deep connection with the universe
Note: These are only some possibilities that might happen in a session. Some sessions feel cathartic, some feel deeply calming- each session is unique, as the intelligence of this life-force energy goes where it is needed in any given moment. No matter what you experience, the value lies in the transformative process of reconnecting with your own energy and inner wisdom.
What are the potential benefits of kundalini activation?
Although each person's experience varies, some benefits of kundalini activation are:
- Reduction in stress and anxiety
- Enhanced mental clarity
- Release of stored emotions
- Access to expanded states of consciousness
- Deeper connection with intuition
- Stronger faith and trust in the Divine
- Heightened bliss and pleasure
- Natural desire to adopt healthy living practices
- An increased capacity to handle life's challenges
- Deeper self-acceptance and self-love
Will it cure my anxiety, depression, or other conditions?
While kundalini activation is not necessarily considered a curative practice, participants often report improvements in their emotional, spiritual, mental, and physical states. We view this as a unique practice under the umbrella of complementary alternative medicine, like meditation, reiki, or acupressure. While not considered a cure, it can help your body tune in to its inherent wisdom and activate its own self-healing mechanism.
Are there differences between KAP, KA, LFA, Reiki, and other energy healing modalities?
There are many practices working with energy, and it can be confusing when they all seem so similar. KAP (Kundalini Activation Process) is the name of a branded modality of kundalini activation, founded by a man named Venant Wong. Many facilitators are now using the term "life force activation" to differentiate themselves from the brand, although they are similar practices. To our understanding, KAP was inspired by Innerdance, which is a method of activation founded by Pi Villaraza, a modern mystic from the Philippines.
Reiki, on the other hand, is a Japanese energy healing modality, which was channeled by Mikao Usui in the 1920s while on a spiritual quest. It was brought to the West by a skilled and gifted Japanese-Hawaiian woman named Hawayo Hiromi Takata in the 1940s.
While all of these modalities work with universal life-force energy, their approaches and effects may vary. In our opinion, each of these modalities is best experienced, rather than described with words.
We respect them all.
How can I prepare for and get the most out of my session?
The wonderful thing about this practice is that no experience is necessary in order to benefit from it. All that is required is an open mind and a willingness to let go of expectation. By surrendering to the present moment, we open to the possibility for profound healing to occur.
We recommend that in the days before and after your session, you stay hydrated and eat nourishing foods. We suggest that you abstain from alcohol and recreational drugs, as well as from violent visuals. This will help prepare your mind and body to relax more easily during your activation, and it will help you integrate your experience afterward. During the session, wear unrestrictive clothing that will not distract you from the experience of letting go and turning inward. You may want to bring your own yoga mat and a bottle of water.
How is this different from kundalini yoga?
Unlike kundalini yoga, which involves active participation through asana (posture) and breathwork, kundalini activation is a passive practice. There are no movements or breath techniques required. You simply lie down, relax, and allow the energy within you to flow naturally. The benefits are found in surrendering to the process and the transformative power of the energy already present within you. Truly, the less you do, the more the energy flows.
Is this a religious practice?
No. Although kundalini is a Sanskrit word, which is said to be the world's oldest recorded language—originating in India—it is not bound to one religion. Kundalini energy resides in us all. This is a human experience and the practice has the potential to deepen our connection with our spirituality, regardless of what we call it. All are welcome here, and we have facilitators and support specialists of many different religious backgrounds.
Will kundalini activation heal my trauma?
Participants often report feeling relieved of some of the symptoms of trauma after a session, however, we recognize trauma as a complex and nuanced subject that requires specialized training to fully understand and effectively support. At KIN, we are proud to offer somatic trauma healing workshops and trainings to our members in the near future in order to provide the tools and knowledge to work sensitively with this delicate facet of life.
If you are struggling with symptoms of trauma, please reach out to be connected with one of our specialists who can offer help.
Spiritual Awakening Support +
What is spiritual awakening?
Spiritual awakening is the process of becoming aware of a deeper connection to the greater meaning of life and one’s place in the universe. This awakening can unfold gradually or occur suddenly, and it is often accompanied by a profound shift in perception, experience, and the way we relate to ourselves and the world.
How do I know if I'm experiencing a spiritual awakening?
The signs of spiritual awakening can vary greatly, but some common experiences include:
- Heightened sensitivity
- A profound awareness of your connection to a greater power
- Changes in sleep patterns and vivid dreams
- The development of spiritual gifts and deeper intuition
- A feeling of expansiveness and connectedness to the universe
- Ringing in the ears or heightened auditory awareness
- Paranormal experiences
- Warmth or tingling sensations along the spine
- Noticing an increase in synchronicities that feel like more than coincidence
- Sudden interest in numerology, astrology, or similar practices
- An inexplicable knowing that you are a part of something greater
- Clairvoyance, clairsentience, and/or clairaudience
We acknowledge that these symptoms can often feel unsettling and overwhelming. If you have questions about what you are experiencing or if you want support from one of our integration specialists, please reach out!
What are some common challenges of spiritual awakening?
Oftentimes— especially at the beginning— spiritual awakening can feel isolating and disorienting. You may find yourself no longer relating to your friends, family, location, and/or job in the same way you used to. Your feelings and interests may change, seemingly overnight. Some of these shifts can be overwhelming or confusing at times. You may feel a sense of urgency to speed up the awakening process, or feel as though you should be "more healed." This is a trap of the mind.
In our experience, on the Path of awakening, there is no race. It is not a linear process. Everything takes the time that it takes, and the more we meet ourselves with patience and grace, the easier it will be.
How can I support myself through the awakening process?
Great question! Our favorite forms of self-care include:
- Staying hydrated and eating nourishing foods- Listen to your body and honor its needs.
- Spending time with people who understand. It is important not to isolate.
- Drinking a favorite herbal tea, such as chamomile, peppermint, or lemon balm.
- Getting out in nature, regardless of the weather. Just five minutes of fresh air works wonders!
- Allowing yourself to feel all your emotions, including the ones you don't see on social media.
- Going for a walk or standing barefoot on the earth.
- Spending time with animals or trees.
- Engaging with salt water through sweat (exercise), tears, a saltwater bath, or the ocean if you live nearby.
- Practicing meditation, yoga, tai chi, or qigong.
- Attending a kundalini/life force activation session.
- Laughing with friends. Try not to take life so seriously! :)
Above all, we recommend practicing being gentle with yourself and trusting your process. The Path is not linear, there is no rush, and each person’s journey is unique.
If you are struggling, please reach out to be connected with one of our integration specialists. You are not alone!
